How do I find a wasp nest?
You will usually first be aware of a wasp’s nest on your property when you notice a larger than usual number of wasps flying around. They will have a straight flight path back to the nest, and most people notice many wasps flying in the same direction. The nest will often be located in sheds, garages, trees and loft spaces. They are sometimes found underground too. Large numbers of wasps will generally be found buzzing around the nest entrance, this is especially noticeable along rooflines when the wasp or hornet’s nest in in the loft or behind fascia boards.
Please remember not to go too close to the nest, wasps are very defensive and will actively and aggressively sting anything they perceive a threat to their colony. Also keep all pets away, and ideally keep children and other people away from the areas the wasps are flying in until the nest is dead.
